The Rationale Model Editor is one of three
free tools that extend the power
of the DOORS platform in Requirements Discovery. Requirements
Discovery is the process which
creates requirements. It involves finding out who the
stakeholders are, and what their
goals are, including any goal
conflicts. From there, the
project has to work out what needs to be done, given all
existing constraints (time, money, existing interfaces,
safety, etc). That involves understanding the
rationale for the goals, dealing
with goal conflicts, and thus assigning
project priorities to the goals to create agreed,
prioritised, realistic and verifiable requirements. |

The Dictionary Builder/Linker is one of
four free tools that extend the power
of the DOORS platform in Requirements Management.
Requirements
Management is the process which
ensures that the requirements as written are translated into
working systems, products or services that meet the
requirements. It involves building a
project structure which organises the requirements into
one or several documents (e.g. business requirements, system
specifications, project dictionary),
which typically conform to industry standards using
templates;
checking and validating the requirements; and using a
database (such as DOORS) to track changes and status through
the life of the project. |
